About SCDAA

The Stamp & Coin Dealers Association of Australasia Inc. (SCDAA) celebrated their 45th Anniversary in 2015.

In 2020 they celebrated their 50th Anniversary as an association.

The SCDAA was established in early 1970 when a number of Sydney suburban full and part-time dealers felt the need to establish a Sydney based Trade Association to provide a service to the collector in a growing Sydney market.

We currently have 35 Members across Australia. Member details can be found on our website scdaa.com.au. Foundation Member Ross Waugh trading as Falcon Stamps is the only member from the original group of 10 or so still trading.

The prime aim of the association is to promote Philately and Numismatics and we pioneered Weekend Stamp & Coin Markets at the Croydon Masonic Hall in early 1971 when keen collectors lined up from 8am to gain entry. Markets in Hornsby and Campsie closely followed and then along came Parramatta, Auburn, Merrylands, Newcastle, Canberra, Wollongong, Albury and Wagga Wagga.

The first Petersham Super Stamp & Coin Fair was held in May 1980 and was then organised by the Late Ron Fell assisted by Ross Waugh. Two original members still trading are Peter & Cathy Craft from Prospect Stamps & Coins and Ron Baker of Ron Baker Stamps. Commencing with 15 dealers, we now have 28 dealers attending and Petersham is now the longest running Fair in Australia attracting about 400 collectors to each event. Collectors are well catered with a wide variety of Australian & World Stamps, Coins and Banknotes.

The Petersham Stamp, Coin & Banknote Fair, is held on the 5th Sunday of each 5 Sunday Month at Petersham Town Hall, 107 Crystal Street, Petersham Sydney.
